Curt Schilling’s Bloody Sock from 2004 World Series

The end of The Curse of the Bambino: It is the perfect distillation of the amazing effort of the 2004 Boston Red Sox. Reminiscent of Roy Hobbs’ climactic scene from “The Natural,” a wounded Curt Schilling took the mound in Game Two of the World Series, ignoring the advice of the physician who had pieced back together the ragged tendons of his right ankle. The Red Sox won Game Two and would go on to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals in a 4-game sweep, thus endingĀ  “The Curse of the Bambino” after 86 years.
